2018 BTC's  Sino-US Program -- Doctor Hunter Speech Tour

In the early summer，when flowers are in full bloom, we are delighted to meet the guests from afar, Doctor Donald Hunter, a professor at  Louisanna State University, and his team. It serves as the inauguration of 2018 BTC's Sino-US programs.

Doctor Donald Hunter, 77 years old, is a scientist and holds three degrees including a doctorate in engineering. He has been employed and taught at Louisianna State University for a long time. His main research field is advanced aero-engine material for jet engine.　He has long served as a material expert of Westinghouse, a giant in the field of nuclear power in  United States.　He has led a large project team independently and improved and developed materials for pressure vessels of nuclear reactors. Dr. Donald was involved in NASA's Apollo moon landing program.　Despite suffering from cancer, Dr. Donald overcame it with a strong will and continued to work for 17 years after his recovery. During this tour, Doctor Hunter and his team conducted a multi-angle discussion about the different stages of life with the teachers and students from a dozen of schools.

At the Beijing West campus of the Affiliated Primary School of Remin University of China, Dr. Hunter told the teachers and students about his own life experience, and his vivid speech won warm applause.

In the multi-functional hall of Dayu Middle School, the students of Dayu Middle School's 1+3 Talent Class who came there for the dialogue, actively asked questions, and communicated warmly with Dr. Hunter about the study, college extrance examination and their confusion and the situation of American high school students. Dr. Hunter told them that science knows no boundaries and life is full of hardships. Hold on! Don't give up and life will be better.

In Yuyuan Middle School, Dr. Hunter and his team were invited to have in-depth talks with the principal and other school leaders about the status quo and system of education in China and United States.  The strong educational accomplishments of both sides made this discussion be another fusion of Chinese and American people's thoughts in educational field.

During this tour, many schools also showed their own features. Beijing Normal Experimental Middle School has brought its distinctive school-based curriculum -- tie-dye. Under the guidance of the famous tie-dye artist, all the team members participated in each student group and tried with their own hands. Sanjiadian Railway Middle School is famous for calligraphy demonstration and also famous as model airplane demonstration school in the city. The principal Yu led the team to visit the school's calligraphy classroom and aircraft model project. He also  thoroughly introduced the concept of 'Three-Harmony Spirit' as characteristic school management phylosophy, which is based on the traditional confucian culture and centers on harmony.　The science-fiction space simulation classroom of Jingxi Affiliated Primary School of Beijing No.8 Middle School , as a famous school of aerospace and aviation in Beijing, fascinated Dr. Hunter who is a former NASA science expert. 　

This speech tour enables the ancient civilization in the east and the United States on the other side of ocean to realize borderless communication on the level of culture and education despite their vast distance.　

Since its establishment, BTC has committed to promoting international communications and improving English level of teachers and students for the primary and secondary schools in Beijing and carrying out international cultural exchange actitives in order to broaden international vision of the teachers and student.
