Community Class of Recycling Handcraft Making

On May 28, a sunny day, residents of Longyi Community, Dayu Street, leaders of the street and education committee, and foreign teacher Melissa as well as staff of Beijing Broaden & Top-trans Communication Center (BTC) gathered together and carried out an activity of making flower pots by recycling materials and succulent plant cultivation.

Mentougou District Government officials attach great importance to this event. Chen Jiangfeng, Deputy Party Secretary of the District Education Working Committee and Director of the District Education Committee; Li Jing, Deputy Secretary of the Dayu Sub-District Working Committee; Li Lin, Deputy Director of the Dayu Sub-district Office, and President of Community College ,Li Mingzhi attended this event.

First, the host made a brief introduction of the community, the foreign teacher who participated in the event and the leaders from the education committee and the community. BTC also sent a team to assist in the on-site explanation. The residents were very enthusiastic.

    Director Chen Jiangfeng introduced the background, significance and specific work requirements of the activities of foreign teachers entering the community. He emphasized that the District Education Commission will continue to promote the project of introducing foreign teachers into the community, to promote citizens' understanding of international culture, to enrich citizens' cultural life, and to promote the building of a national Model District.

        Li Jing expressed his gratitude to the Education Committee and the Community College for providing high-quality educational resources to community residents. She hopes that the residents can learn something useful, and she also hopes that the district Education Committee continues to support Dayu Sub-district.

    After the leaders’ speech, the activities of making flower pots and planting started. The foreign teacher Melissa first explained the words about colors, the method of color mixing, and how to make flower pots to the residents through ppt, and encouraged the residents to use their imagination to draw their favorite animals and colors on the coke bottle. Residents were very excited and followed Melissa to practice the pronunciation of color vocabulary and choose the colors they like to paint. With the assistance of the BTC staff, everyone successfully made their ideal flower pots and cultivated succulents. The atmosphere on the scene was very warm.

        In the end, the residents of the community took photos with the foreign teacher holding their works, the activity completed successfully.
